The Big One / Novel Series

Hammer House / Short Story Collection, Graduate Thesis

My creative practice is based in fiction and nonfiction narrative, with more recent forays into experimental multimedia work. My short fiction ranges from conventional realism to the avant garde, often drawing on the conventions of genre fiction—predominantly science fiction—while expanding on the kind of structural experiments of the 1960s and 70s. My Graduate Thesis consisted of a Short Story Collection entitled, Hammer House.

My novel series, The Big One, follows Arlo, a mid-level government bureaucrat and failed poet. The novel orbits the conventions of political satire as Arlo is abandoned by his administration, who have fled the Earth to escape retribution for crimes against humanity. I have been at work in collaboration with the printmaker, Katie Kelly, to produce an illustrated novella using woodblock relief printing.
